You know HP’s “one last run” blog post about the TouchPad that everyone is currently peeing their pants over? Well don’t get too excited just yet, homies.
I spoke to Edelman – the PR agency that deals with the HP account – this morning, and apparently the blog post is specific to the US.
The lovely young lady I spoke to at Edelman explained that they’re currently trying to confirm what the dealio is for the UK. So while the HP blog post refers to “one last run” for the US, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t get some bonus HP TouchPad units over here.
I’m expecting an update from Edelman later today. I’ll be sure to post said update right here. Stay tuned…
UPDATE: Here's the official word: “We are pleased by the response to webOS and look forward to customer feedback so we can further enhance the platform. A limited quantity of TouchPads will be available in the coming weeks in North America only. In EMEA we are discontinuing the webOS hardware operations and will not offer any additional products beyond what might be currently available in selective outlets.”
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the gist of the HP TouchPad blog post was: “Despite announcing an end to manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand.
“We don’t know exactly when these units will be available or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase.”

We'll see....
1) Shows that HP couldve quite easily sold all their stock even if everything was marketed at £200 for their "firesale", plus considering the rumours are the tablet cost less than that to manufacturer MANUFACTURERS TAKE NOTE TO STOP BEIN GREEDY AND PRICE YOUR TABLETS CORRECTLY!!!
2) People are amazingly fickle people who yurn after the current fad and must be involved no matter the cost, look at the explosion of the iPad despite its cost compared to a netbook and every time the iPhone is released and the prices the they hit on ebay. Crazy stuff
The annoying thing is this has created the "ebayers" who just buy as many as they can to cash in on this, cutting out people who genunely wanted one for the love of the tech (similarly I think its a little rude all these people looking to port Android onto it, there are plenty of Android tablets for around £100-£150 which will probably be more stable! get one of them and let people who like/want to use WebOS have the touchsmarts).
